For those who like more tricks than treats at Halloween, the Mount Dora House of Horrors is set up at Fifth Avenue and Alexander Street in the former Bank of America building.
“We wanted to make it a family-friendly event, so nothing is going to jump out at people,” said Al Wittnebert, 70, president of the Mount Dora Library Association and owner of Uncle Al’s Time Capsule, which recently closed after 20 years. “But I am amazed and it takes a lot to amaze this old guy. It is a quality event.”
Wittnebert said fellow board member Caitlin Dallinga, 21, came up with the idea to create the haunted house and found a perfect ally to help transform the space.
Hours are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday and Oct. 16-19 and 28-30; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 25-26 and Nov. 1 and 2; 4 to 11 p.m. Oct. 31.
